Float Information

This is your chance to shine! Whether you’re a community group, local business, or creative enthusiast, your float could steal the show. Start early to plan and create your float!  Enjoy yourself, whether it's just dressing up in costume and walking, pulling a wagon, decorating a bike or doll carriage, or building a float.

The internet is a great resource for float ideas and materials. A great float does not need to be the size of a Tournament of Roses float or something you may see in New Orleans. It can be a people-powered push cart, a trailer used for grass and leaves to the composter, or even a boat trailer, with or without the boat. Get creative! Keep it family-friendly, and fun and celebrate the history and the future of our great town.
All genearal rules and Information for Bands and Acts shall also apply to Float Entries, as do the following rules.
  • Maximum height is 13’
  • Non-profit, Civic Organizations, School Groups and Businesses are all invited to create a float for the Stoneham 300th Anniversary Parade. Floats should follow the theme of “Celebrate the 300th Anniversary of Stoneham”.
  • The Float Coordinator or 300th Committee  reserves the right to remove any Float or group that is considered inappropriate or dangerous to spectators.
  • All floats and participants with floats shall be at the Staging area no later than 2:30 PM on October 4, 2025. Franklin St and surrounding streets near the high school will be closing to traffic, and late entries can not be accommodated All drivers shall be in the towing vehicle by 3:00 PM in order to begin lineup. Please make every effort to be within sight of the towing vehicle at all times.
We are looking forward to seeing what sort of creative floats we will all be able to enjoy during this year's celebration! Questions? [email protected]

Other Acts (Reenactors, Civic Groups, Dancers, Street Performers and More)

We’re seeking local and area-wide talented street performers, marching youth groups, local organizations, and non-musical acts to join the excitement. This is your chance to shine. Whether you are a dance group, Chinese Dragon, juggler, stilt walker, mime, magician, or any other captivating act, this is your chance to perform before a massive, enthusiastic audience of thousands along our 1.8 mile parade route.

Musical Groups

The Stoneham 300th Anniversary Parade is a must-attend event for marching bands seeking a premier performance opportunity. The Fine Print - General Information and Rules

Please read and follow all rules. This is for the safety of all participants and spectators. Any questions? Please reach out to [email protected].  All participating organizations must agree to the rules, the basic gist of which is keep entries family friendly, don't throw anything from a vehicle (it encourages kids to run out in the parade route, which is very dangerous), no passing out flyers or fundraising materials, be prepared to keep up with the parade, no smoking or drinking and in general - don't be a jerk.
  • All participants shall fill out the entry form on 300anniversary.org. The committee will then review this form, and a response will be sent to you.
  • We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol consumption in cooperation with the Stoneham Emergency Management team. No alcoholic beverages or alcohol consumption is permitted on the parade route, staging areas, or parking lots. Failure to comply with this policy shall result in being reported to the Stoneham Police and removal from the parade.   There shall be no smoking or vaping along the parade route.
  • There shall be no throwing of objects into the crowd from vehicles, including water guns, silly string, candy, or souvenirs. This is also a zero-tolerance policy. Violating this policy will result in immediate removal from the parade.  Any candy should be distributed by pedestrians.  Please make sure it goes all the way to the curb, otherwise it encourages children to run into the parade route, which is very dangerous with the number of vehicles in the parade.
  • Any stickers, buttons, or other souvenirs to be handed out to spectators shall be approved by the 300th Committee before October 1, 2025. No political, sexual, discriminatory, racial, or offensive material will be allowed.
  • There shall be no passing out of literature, hand billing, brochures, or fundraising by parade participants. No racial, religious, overtly sexual, sexually biased, violent, or ethnic slurs or offensive language, as deemed by the Parade Committee, shall be allowed.
  • All participants with horses or other animals must provide a clean-up team, or they will not be permitted in the parade.
  • All participants shall keep up the pace of the parade. There shall be a designated spot for short performances by Marching Bands, Dance Units, etc at the end of the parade route.
  • Parade marshals will be on the parade route to help with pacing and performance areas.
  • All vending on the Parade route and surrounding streets from 12 to 7 is permitted by the  300th Committee only. Please see the separate rules for parade vending.
